I'd recommend the Detroit TrueTrac. It's a rock solid LS design with nearly instant engagement. Unless you're doing serious rock crawling I wouldn't bother with the extra expense or hassle of a selectable locker.

I agree with Thump. . Locker would get quite annoying on a daily driver.

why is that? an e-locker is selectable. unlocked its acts as an open diff, locked its, well, a locker. lol there is no street abilitly issues with selectable lockers.

Unless you're actually crawling where you'll regularly have one wheel fully suspended off the ground then a full locker is a waste. The truetrac will lock up the same as a selectable in 98% of situations.

the truetrac will never lock, its a limited slip. the only difference is that it is helical gear driven instead of using clutches. if one wheel looses enough traction it will still break lose just like a regular LS. also, according to 4wheel parts the true trac doesnt work in reverse like a regular LS does, that was what i was going to get to replace the trac-loc on my ranger but i ended up with an auburn gear for that reason. lockers arent just for rock crawling BTW, ive encountered many situations off road where one wheel is off the ground and my trucks never been on the rocks.
perhaps you are thinking of a powertrax auto locker? http://www.richmondgear.com/powertrax/noslip.html

I was keeping his uses and money in mind. E-locker not cheap. Doesn't sounds like he really needs it. Money vs. value is up to him I suppose. Wasn't worth it to me when I rebuilt me rear end. If I had the extra money at the time.. Yea I'd get one.
