Default Lighting Question

Hey everyone, I know that there's a ton of u Ford owners that have HIDs out there, my question is would a person be able to disable the daytime running lights so you could save the life of ur bulbs. Also could you use your fog lights as your daytime running lights possibly. Any help would be awesome thanks.

On my Superduty, there was fuse just for the DRL only, I pulled it and was done. Not sure on the 04-8 though.

The DRL operates at the same voltage as the low beams, so you won't have any issues with the life of the HID bulbs as a result of that. What you may want to disable is the courtesy lighting feature (if you have it) that turns on the headlights when you use the keyless entry to unlock the vehicle at night. This short duration (less than three minutes) IS harmful to the life of the HID bulbs if you don't run to the truck and turn them on manually to let the bulbs operate for a minimum of three minutes.

EDIT: DRLs ARE required in Canada....

Funny thing is that my truck was bought privately and the previous owners never gave me a key fob so I won't be too worried about the keyless entry problem...thanks a lot for the help though everyone...anymore suggestions r more then welcome.
