Default lift kit

if im going to get my truck lifted what things will i need to do? i know i will need aftermarket rims and tires with the right offset..

do i need my truck to be ( re geared first )?

anything else i might need to do before i buy the lift kit and put it on my truck? im looking into buying a 6 inch lift..

and if i do need my truck re geared where would i go to get this done? and do i do this before putting on 6 inch lift

im looking to run at least 18 inch rims and 35s but might go bigger
thanks for any input or advice

Good rule of thumb.Any tires over 35's,good idea to regear.Good idea to re-gear before you put the lift on.Also, invest in a tuner, you will want some type of tuner for the power, and to recalibrate your speedo, and other things.N screw it,if your going to re-gear,might as well go with a rear locker if you can afford it.

so if i get the 6 inch lift and new rims and tires and just get some 35 12.50 18s with the 18 inch rim i can probably get away with just the lift tires and performance chip for now? until a couple months when i can get her re geared? thanks bro

IIRC, your FX4 has 3.73s stock. Tons of guys are running 35s with 5.4s and stock gears. Go ahead and do the lift and tires, and decide if you want to upgrade the gears after driving it for a little while.

I wish I could but I have been having that humming noise when I step on the gas every now and then. It's like a loud humming and sounds to be coming from rear end. So I think I gotta get my gears fixed no matter what. Should I go to the ford dealership to have this fixed? I do have a extended warranty still and I think it covers my differential. So I'll have to check into that first
