simple........fulcrum point. because the springs lower mounting point on the lower control arm isnt at the very farthest end of the arm from the frame. because its closer to the frame then the end of the control arm where the wheel is mounted, by pushing the spring down 2", you inadvertently push the wheel down 3". and now that the wheel is 3" farther down, therefor the truck is lifted 3"

Why would the spring be any more compressed than it is stock? You're not adding any more weight to it (ok, maybe a couple pounds of weight from the mount itself), you're just changing the mounting position of the chassis in relation to the spring. This is essentially like putting in a longer spring without changing any of the characteristics of the spring (i.e. spring rate)
