Default Leveling Question

I have an '08 Ford F150 Crew Cab 4X4. When I purchased the truck I went ahead and had the strut extensions installed in the front to level the truck out. I have purchased and installed an ARE camper shell. Once I hook to my boat the truck it squatted in the rear pretty bad. I am thinking about adding 2" blocks under the rear but didn't know if this may be to much when I am not hooked to the boat.

What are your thoughts?

maybe try an airbag kit. that way when you are unloaded you will be level with no air but when you are loaded you will still be level with air in the bags. something to look into

I haven't even considered that. Thanks for your input.

I don't know a lot about them but I know there is one type that has a valve like any tire that you pump up or let air out of. and this is also the types with their own electric pump. I don't have any ideas about brands but my buddy had them on his truck and loved them for towing

Firestone RideRite airbags. Once installed, they have an air fitting to add/release air pressure for loaded/unloaded times. DO NOT just install blocks to take care of the problem. The blocks don't add any load capacity or load control to the vehicle at all.

Another viable and less expensive option would be to do an Add a leaf system. you'll gain 1-2 inches depending on what you get. It will also stiffen the stock spring pack to keep the truck from sagging too much under load. If you go this route, NEVER REUSE U-BOLTS.

Also keep in mind you have a 1.5 inch factory block in the back right now, so IF you just did block to save on expense, a 2" won't do you much, since you really should not stack blocks. Again, never reuse U-Bolts.

Despite this, if you'd like to keep level while loaded and unloaded too, airbags are the only feasible option.

Let us know what you decide!
