Default leveling kit and tire sizing

i know this topic has been beat to death but i am another one in question about this.

i have 2005 ex. cab 4x4, i am installing a 2inch level kit in front
i wanted to go with around a 34x11/11.5 without rubbing,i have 17x8.5 mb tko rim with plus 25 offset now and was looking at a 285/75/17 toyo at2 or nitto trail grappler or i have thought about i a 275/70/18 trail grappler with mb tko's 18x9 with a plus 25 offset.
Main reason i need advice is i just was at the local truck accessories shop and they had told me that i would have to stay as close to a 33 so it does not rub, i have read hundreds of post and it seems everyone has different opinions on the subject.

Here's mine when I had a 2" level/lift and 33's but I think you can fit those tires with some trimming up front

I have bilsteins up front, (2.75") on my 2wd running metric tires that convert to 34.9x12.1 r20, slight rubbing at first on the rear of the wheel well. You can unbolt and pull the plastic wheel well liner away, take a mallot to the metal lip in there, push and bolt the plastic liner back and rubbing solved. Being a 4x4 youll fit 35's no problem

A 295x70x17 (33.5x11.8) made by Toyo and Nitto would work too. I had them on my '04 and they worked great. I also ran some 315x70x17 BFG's but they were a little too big. Stick with 33 or 34's max.

Here's a pic of the 295x70x17 Toyo MT's on 17x9 wheels. Truck was leveled 2-1/2 inches.

Let it be known, if you have to take a hammer to your truck, THEY DON'T FIT.

a 285 75 17 toyo at2 factory spec is 33.9x11.3 and a 275 70 18 toyo mt would be 33.6x11 should I go with the 18's and sell my 17's I have now or keep my 17's

I'd keep the 17's....if they're a good enough size to go on a Raptor and look good they'll work on a XLT or any other trim level. 17 inch tires are cheaper and with the tall sidewalls they give the illusion of a much bigger tire. I'd also be looking for some Raptor 17" take offs which are perfect specs to run larger tires on a leveled 4x4. They also make a 305x70x17...a 305x65x17 and the 315x70x17 that are close to 35's. For some reason there is a better selection of 17 and 20 inch tires then 18's so I'd keep that in mind.

Another view of the 295x70x17 Toyo MT's

Here's the 315x70x17 BFG TA/KO's
