Default Leveled with 31s MPG?

I have a 04 XLT 2WD 5.4L Stock right now. I am getting around 15 MPG and I drive 85% around town.

I wanted to install a 2.5" leveling kit with 31" 10.50 tires.

Am I looking to loose that much MPG? Can I still remain around 15 maybe 14 MPG?

I don't like the rake and would like to sit a little higher off the road. I am sure the leveling kit and tires would do me fine. Just not sure if I want to sacrifice more than 1.2 MPG.

I tried searching the site because I know the answer is out there. Maybe it is me but the Search feature at the top sucks for the right results.

I have an 05 f150 with the 5.4,auto,4x4,super cab,short bed,factory tires,factory 3.55 gearing.2.5" leveling kit,accel ignition coils,new motorcraft plugs,magnaflow cat back single exit exhaust,109,000 miles, edge CS programmer ( on level 2 with regular pump gas),gotts mod.

And I have got as good as 26mpg average ( I normally get 22-24 mpg average and my average speed is around 55mph ).

I know it sounds hard to believe. I have no idea why I get that kind of mileage. Maybe a combo of my upgrades?...not sure.

But I will say that after installing my 2.5" leveling kit I did not really notice any difference in my mpg. ( I would think by lifting the front end a little it would reduce front end drag and allow more air to flow under the truck which would actually increase MPG.....then again I don't know much about aerodynamics haha).

Do you have any more info on your programmer? Maybe a link? I always could not justify paying a ton of money on a chip to level out a little mpg. What are your around town numbers?

I like the stance and nice truck BTW. Any before and after side shots?

Thank you....and sure no problem.

I was like you, I couldn't justify spending big bucks on buying one outright. But last spring a member here on the forum had one for sale and we worked out a good deal on them ( I traded him a set of headlights i had laying around and a few bucks) so it saved me alot of cash. And has been THE BEST and most noticeable improvement i have made to the truck. Definitely suggest getting one. I noticed a huge improvement in throttle response (felt laggy before). I good MPG's, a VERY noticeable power improvement. (before my truck struggled to do a brake torque burnout but now I can punch the gas and smolder the tires and burn them into second ( I don't do it often...but hey...I had to check the programmer out lol)...and that's only on level 2 , I have never tried level 3 programming to see what kind of power increase there is.

Here is a link to the programmer I have http://www.edgeproducts.com/product.php?pk=122&pvk=345

Anyways, here are a few pictures you asked for. There is some before and a pic during the install and pictures after the install. The leveling kit made a good bit of difference (takes a minute to get use to not being able to see over your hood as far) and I would suggest immediately getting an alignment done on your truck after doing the leveling kit.

I wish I could buy it but at $500 I do see myself buying this. If I was able to find a deal on a used one like you did that would be nice. Pretty cool all the features that this programmer provides though.

Thanks for the pictures I think it is going to look great once done.

Just keep your eyes peeled and you can find a good deal on one. I cant remember for certain but I think I gave $100.00 cash and a set of factory headlights that a buddy gave to me for $10.00. The deals are out there...you just have to be patient and vigilant lol.

Cool I will keep a eye out in the sale section.

Thanks guys.

So back to the original question. How much am I really going to sacrifice in MPG with a 2.5" leveling kit and 31s?
