Well, if I just bought it and didn't know prior, I'd ask the previous owner. Sounds like you've accepted that this is now your problem, so just explain that to them and see. Try searching around the forum for threads about leaks. Do you have the moonroof? Sat radio? I'm not sure if that was available then, but adding that will help your search.

If it doesn't smell like antifreeze, start checking the seals around obvious areas (doors, windshield, sun/moon roof etc. I had a Plymouth Horizon back when I was a teenager (hey...parents bought it for me to drive...don't laugh). It had a leak around the passenger windshield. Long story short the windshield seal had shrunk and pulled away from the frame. You couldn't see it unless you looked real close.

I haven't really started to look yet, I bought it from my daughter and her husband bought it used and noticed it was damp but thought it was due to the snow, looks like more than that. Don't think I'm getting much help as everything else is pretty much a high 8 or low 9 in this 2004 lariate

Ill find it shortly if it ever dries up ill be able to vacuum the wet and then soak it down with rug removed, does not smell like anti-freeze. Thanks for your comeback ill let you know the outcome.
