Hope that works for you! I went the old-school way and picked up some Rope Caulk from the hardware store. Took my time on a hot day, squeezing it down under the seal. Seems to have stopped the leaks.

More than one way to skin a cat, eh?

Good Luck!

Happened to me when truck was new; dealer replaced the lamp assy and put RTV around it. It's been 10 yrs and doesn't leak

New??? Gives me hope!! I check and you can tell the RTV made a nice seal around under the brake light gasket. You could even smell the glue inside the cab after a day!

Did you let the RTV fully cure before installing? If it was wet, it's not going to want to come off.

I added all leds with I used RTV so I'll never open it up again.

I took the chance and put it together wet only because I relaxed all three bulbs with the assembly and the connector. I've read around where people let the RTV cure but it still leaked until they put it together wet and it didn't. I still had the original bulbs in mine when I replaced them. If it fixes the leak then I'll just cross that bridge when I get there

Well, that's how I broke my original third brake light. I put it on wet and then needed to replace a bulb.

It wouldn't come off and the housing separated and broke in half.

I put the RTV on dry two year ago when I broke the original and I haven't had a leak.

Was the bulb original or did it just randomly blow? I swear if mine blow for whatever reason and i have to break it, I'll drive into a lake and stay in there lol!
