Leaf spring clunk?
I have been getting what seems like the driveline clunk when accelerating from a stop. I put the truck on a lift and dropped the front and rear driveshafts to clean, inspect and re-grease the slip yokes. Both yokes were clean and lubricated.
Hmmm..
Only thing the service manual suggests aside from slip yokes is the u-bolts holding leaf springs could be loose.. I put an impact gun on them but they were tight as a drum.
My buddy suggest slipping some grease in between the leaf springs themselves. He says the bushings in the springs can wear and clunk when a load is applied. I was skeptical but we gave it a shot.. Dropped the truck and guess what?... Buttery smooth. No more clunk.
Any of you guys see this before? You think I need all new springs or can I just replace the bushings?
Thanks
