Mine does once it's warmed up......but right now I don't have 2 grand to spend on cam phasers, not sure I want to on a truck with 110k miles anyway. Think I'm just going to cut my losses and trade in a few months if it'll stay in one piece til then.

You might be able to drop in a re=manufactured one for a little over 3 if you shop around enough.

I hear my injectors tapping on startup, once the engine warms up, i hear the cam phasers, if you listen closely you can hear two sets of tapping. Some tapping from injectors should be normal.

If you're worried, run some STP through it and see if it helps.

Bit of lucas stabilizer will take care of the ticking noise. That, or switching to full synthetic seems to do the trick as well.

Passenger side manifold was the cause. Replaced gasket and problem solved.

Hate to revive this thread but I'm having similar issue. It has been really cold lately and in the mornings my truck knocks like hell. It knocks until I drive it out of the neighborhood then its quite as can be. I use Motorcraft filters and 5-20 full synthetic. Since it doesn't do this once its warm it makes me think its not the cam phasers. I park on a rather steep incline the the engine pointing up. Could this have anything to do with this. The truck runs fine and smooth once its warm. Gas milage has not really suffered.
