So I was looking at my 04 new body style f150 with the 5.4 by where the intake hose goes into the fenderwell and had a question. Why is there a plate for mounting something right where the intake hose starts if the 5.4 and 4.6 both don't have an intake box mounted there? is it for something else that I'm missing? I'm really just curious if anyone knows why its there. Here's some pics of the area I'm talking about. The first one is upside down but you can see the mounted plate that over hangs randomly in the engine compartment and thats what I'm wondering about

i have no clue, but looking at some photos on google and what i was looking at was coolant reservior, windshield wiper fluid tanks, but i dont know

 

Got me. My '05 does not have this plate. Perhaps a carry over from the "Heritage" models into the early '04's?

You need some '04 guys to check their truck to see if they have this plate and could explain it.

my 04 has plate under my air intake. I can only think its for the aftermarket airboxs. Or maybe even the harley davidson model since I think it comes with CAI in it.
