Default Intake air temps

Hey guys, I was tooling through the display settings on my edge today and I was wondering what everyone's getting for intake air temps vs. outdoor temps, and if the CAI kits actually do run cooler.
At full engine temp my IAT is about 60 deg with an ambient temp right above freezing.
I'm running the gotts mod and I've painted my factory intake white to reflect heat.

I have a K&N CAI and I have checked it at idle but while on the highway the IAT is 2 degrees warmer than outside temperatures. It's on a 5.4

"painted the intake white to reflect heat"??? Do you drive with the hood off? Light colors and heat have to do with solar heat reflection.

I think you'll discover that the colder the outside temps, the greater the difference in inlet vs ambient temp. The hotter the outside/ambient temp, the less difference between the two. I'll go one step further and bet that applies to factory intakes the same as gotts and/or "CAI"s.

So your running the gotts mod or factory intake??? And yea painting it will do nothing to change how it absorbs heat unless you have no hood. Haha

I don't know if this would affect things air temperature wise but you might want to check for leaves in the upper part of the fender where the factory intake tube attaches. When I installed my K&N CAI I found a handful of leaves in that hole.
