If you have an 07-08, stick with the same rules and also with a cluster from those two years only.

You could possibly have it programmed, but if your truck didn’t already come with those options, it likely won’t work. All trucks got the thermometer behind the grille though.

ive lived with the same issue for a few years. After spending a bunch of time looking into it, it seemed either not possible or not worth the time and money.

Get a can of compressed air (keyboard cleaner) and unhook the 2 plugs on the top of the cluster and blow out all the connectors real good. Plug it back in and see if it's working. If not there could be a problem with that cluster. You may be able to have it flashed at the dealer, but try cleaning the connections first.

I took it as he swapped clusters, not that it just stopped working.

I took it the same way. And he should be fine as long as he used a XLT or FX cluster. Not sure how long the new cluster has been sitting collecting dust. Too much dust and dirt in the connections can cause it to not work properly.

If he has an XL or STX that didn’t come with those factory options, they won’t just work if the new cluster has them.
