Default Installing 4x4 switch

Ive noticed that in my XL, if you pull out that stupid little coin holder (where the 4x4 switch would go), theres a wire plugging into the back of it. Is this for a 4x4 switch?? I currently have the floor shift 4x4. Could the switch be installed?? Thanks.

I am sure you could install it but it won't do anything by itself I don't think.

I wish i had a floor shift.... Theres something about manually popping it in to gear... You know that its in, not turning a switch and hoping that it engages itself

Wish I had that in the FX4... Coming out of my place after a big snowfall (Ok, big for Southern California) I would prefer to have that knowledge that I just slid the stick into the right spot.

I think this is true. You would have to probably rewire from the floor to the connection, unplug the floor for the electronic shift to work, or maybe even get your PCU flashed (manual on the floor, electronic on the fly). I am not 100% sure, just guessin (at least I am honest ).

Not positive on these trucks, but normally the manual t-case lever actually engages the t-case. The electronic shift controls an actuator that performs the same motion on the fork.
