Default installed my used Gryphon, some ?'s

Hopefully you guys can shed some light on these things. Happy with the purchase my problems I think are user error.

1)When I tried to load Level 2 with custom settings to change my tire size(I have 33" stock was 32"), the display says the stock PCM has 31" programmed in from Ford on the stock calibration file. WTF is that? Is that common? I bought this truck brand new off the lot and it had 32" tires in it(275/55r20)

2)Since this is a used PHP I didn't go onto the edge website and try to update it, can this thing take the edge updates or do I need to get some update from PHP for the software. I have no idea when this was updated.

3)I loaded the level 2 tune(Tow 87 octane the screen says), and the first time I drove it it shifted hard for my liking, and I have a slight misfire so it really aggravated that. So I loaded back to stock, drove fine. ABout an hour later I loaded the level 2 again because I was just wanting to check it out again, and after programming the truck just wouldn't move. I would give it gas, the truck would barely roll forward no matter how much throttle I gave it. I turned it off, loaded the stock program, and the truck runs good again. WHat happened here?

4)The edge dash pod color match is horrid, I'm going to have to paint it or something, what is the factory color match paint for a 2006 F150 FX4? I looked online for pictures and some ppl say it's fine some people are like me and it is off enough to look like crap. I guess worse case I can just paint it black......

Thanks.

Wow, I will try and help here. But one thing to note, never use a tuner unless your truck is in perfect mechanical shape (no mis-fires or underlying issues). MY Gryphon has no problems letting me enter a new size for tires in mm. You can download the Edge drivers to your computer, and also download the pegasus software from PHP as well. There is a option on the Edge drivers or Pegasus drivers (I cant remember which) that gives you the option to re-install the Edge drivers. Now, I am not sure how well that will work since you already got it converted to a Gryphon. I would dowload the Pegasus software from PHP and update it if ther is one available. As far as dash color and pod matching, they don't, so I made a custom mount utilizing my sunvisor bolt to hold mine up by the headliner that I showed you in your other thread about tuners.

thanks summers, I'm going to have to fix my misfire first I've been waiting for good weather to do it. I'll run the stock tune until then.

As far as the tire size, the Gryphon will let me program it to whatever I want, I was just asking when the default stock PCM value is displayed it's 31" tire(in mm circumference of course I converted) instead of 32" that it's supposed to be? I don't want to chalk that up to Ford PCM programming error but maybe? Basically the Gryphon reads the stock PCM file (like it tells me I have 3.73 gears which is correct) but for the tire size it tells me the stock FORD program is 31" when I have 32" tires STOCK.

I'll go to the PHP website and see what I can do for an update. I'm just a little confused since this is a Gryphon(I see the bird on bootup), and I didn't want to screw something up by loading edge software updates or whatever.

You are welcome. Go to Powerhungryperformance.com and install the Pegasus software. From there you can update it to the latest software version. Yes, get that mis-fire taken care of!

Alright been screwing with this software update for a while.

I tried and tried on 2 different computers to get the Pegasus software to connect to the gryphon, just says disconnected and wouldn't read it.

I then downloaded the fusion software from Edge, and it can connect to the gryphon. I let the Fusion update all the software and then connected it to my truck for final bootup, the Gryphon is now essentially an Edge with the latest software release(boot screen says Edge Evolution now). Whatever I don't care, it's fine for now.

Now the pegasus software STILL does not see my EDGE now (I thought it would if I have the latest Edge firmware), I read online that it should and I can update it to a gryphon using the pegasus software. I guess I'll try some more stuff, anything I'm missing here?

Thanks.

Okay, so you turned it back into an Edge, which is fine. You also dowloaded the Pegasus software but now it wont recognize the device?

Try this: https://www.f150forum.com/f4/guide-c...-tunes-286584/

Did all that, and had to get some USB drivers for it to work with my MS Surface, and yadda yadda it finally worked and I have a Gryphon again that has the latest firmware, that I can actually connect to my computer. I'm 100% now.

Thanks again!

Be careful setting your tire size. I run 305/70R17's and when I set my circumference it was actually 5 mph over what my GPS said. I had to back it off. This could possibly be due to the squish factor.

As for OEM tire size, check the drivers side door panel. The OEM tire size will be there, it's a yellow and white sticker. Dealerships are known for putting the wrong tires on vehicles. I see it pretty often at discount tire. Wrong size, load index, speed ratings, etc.
