Default Increasing Key FOB Range

It seems every other key fob I use the range is really good. Is there any way to increase it. I doubt there is but doesn't hurt to ask. Mine will only lock/unlock at around 5 yards away. I've already changed the battery in the remote itself.

This might sound weird, but it works on my VW (2008 Passat), and that key fob has a much shorter range than any Ford I've ever had- hold the key fob under your chin when you press a button. This makes your body act like an antenna. Strange, yes, but it works much better for my Passat than trying to hold the key in the air or point it at the car. Distances those maneuvers don't work at, the under chin thing many times will. Good luck.

Question- do both key fobs have such short range? Does it always have short range (maybe local interference, depending on where you are at)?

Ah, ok, so much for that idea. I got a replacement pretty cheap online (only one came with my truck used, and the key ring part was broken). I got the remotes and a replacement transponder key from here: http://www.carandtruckremotes.com/. Fast service and they were easy to program without going to the dealer (though you do need two coded keys to program a new one- otherwise you have to go to the dealer). You can program the new remote, even if you lost all your other ones, with the video on their website. It worked exactly like they showed on my 05 Lariat Screw 4x4. Remotes came with batteries installed.

LOL I always feel like an idiot when I do this, but yes, it does work.

I just don't know where the sensor is in the truck, and if it can "go bad" or somehow lose it's signal strength.
