Default I was talking to my mechanic

I was talking to my mechanic the other day, He is a big ford guy.
I asked him about putting a 2.5" lift kit on my truck. He told me it would make the ride a lot rougher and he advised against it, but he will be happy to put one on for me If I wanted.

Then we talked about the exhausts he told me I could get about 2-3 miles more to the gallon but a lot of any more horse power.
I asked him if it is worth taking off a new exhaust and putting on a performance one in its place was worth it and he said it is and to keep the old one and if I want to put it back to stock he would do it for free.

Is he right on these things?

a 2.5" leveling kit rides just the same as a stock truck, it still has the same shocks, now the bilstein shocks will make the truck ride a little rougher.

as for the exhaust he is SOO full of it with the exhaust, you may see .5-1 mpg increase, 2-3 is never gonna happen.

Agreed! An exhaust will most likely make your truck run better, but as far as mileage, I haven't heard anyone say they increased their mileage by anything that was truly measurable. It is definitely worth doing though... the sound and increased performance is always a plus.

I just installed an Auto spring 2 inch kit on friday and the truck drives the same and rides
the same. The only thing different is that you look straight out instead of looking down the
hood

I have a 3" level and the ride is the same as it was from the start.

And my fellow members are correct, 2-3 mpg's is not gonna happen form an exhaust system. He..was talkin out of his butt.
