Default I just installed a spectre cai and now my throttle feels choked.

After the install I was having a difficult time keeping the motor running so I went back to the manufacture recommendations and they said to let it warm up. OK, that done now it's throwing cel code mass air flow sensor failure. I have taken it out and cleaned it but issue remains. Does anyone have a fix before I spend 80 dollars only to find out something else is happening? Also, the truck still cuts out around 2200 RPM and is idling very ruff. Any help would be great. The install was for a 2008 5.4 4x4.

You might have installed the MAF backwards, It might have an airflow directional arrow.
