I took the intake off of my neighbors Expy, trying to locate a vacuum leak. After the intake came out, I found a hose coming from the top of the trans that has been kinked off and zip tied. I don't have any idea what it went to.... unless it is a vent for the trans or t-case? It runs up there next to the fuel and evap line. It is currently draped over the top of the bracket that holds the fuel and evap lines- causing a kink, and then zip tied. Definitely not factory. I snapped a pic in hopes someone could tell me what it is.

It's factory. It's a vent for the transfer case I think. It just lays on top of the tranny. I had installed a tranny in an 04 and found this out

You are exactly right. It is indeed the vent for the t-case. Ford didn't really do the zip tie though, did they? Never seen them do that before.

Yep Ford did the zip tie. I've seen two others the same way so I'm sure it's factory
