When I was in the Navy a Chief I worked for was telling a story about when he was on a sub and there was somebody stealing money from people, pretty stupid first of all seeing it's such closed quarters compared to a carrier. Not to mention there isn't much worse than a thief.

Anyway, they caught the guy and took him in front of the Skipper. The CO said, 'he doesn't look like a thief to me, so bring him back when he does.' The Master-at-Arms brought him back the next day in front of the Skipper with two black eyes and a busted up lip.

The Skipper said, 'ok, NOW he looks like a thief!' Guess they can't do that nowadays...

 

Get an alarm.

 

My old truck was broken into and I lost a leather jacket and the cost of the window. Set me back about 500$, sad part was the guy was caught and charged in a court of law but i never saw any money for the damages.

As far as the alarm goes your wallet is the limit. You can go simple beep beep, or get one that your key fob will alert you from about 1/4 (probably further now) mile away from the truck.

Yes thieves do suck!

 

i had my vent window on my previous truck, '93 f150 broken out while at the shop geting a new tranny. sad part was the guy dropped the transmission and pushed my truck out of the shop, right next to the road. the guys who tinted my windows broke in and stole my amp, two memphis subs and enclosures, cd player, and bent the window hinge point... thank god the shops insurance covered it because he left it outside... but yes thieves suck... i work hard for everything i have or want... and it pisses me off when people take my stuff earned by my sweat and effort... sorry my rant for the month

I have a Viper on my truck. It came with it... I just hate it. If I have the keys in my pocket and the fob buttons touches the rest of the keys it sets the alarm off or even starts the truck! I also can't use the door key pad. It sets the alarm off also The alarm I have on my Chevy starts and arms by having to push and hold them for several seconds. A much better set-up.

Also an alarm will never deter an smash and grab. It just makes everyone look the other way or be annoyed after the fact. Just my thought...

 

get the alarm that tells alerts your keys and have a gun next to your keys. you hear it you come out and shoot once into the air and scare the **** out of them so they dont come back lol

 

while i agree with this shooting in the air is often illegal - besides if they are breaking into your stuff (at least in florida) i'd shoot him and say its self defense....

i have a python alarm - was put in after i got broken into and only a few things we're taken - installed aftermarket satalite uplink and pay for a service where like lojack my vehicle is monitored - can't do anytihng about break-ins but under most insurances if its hardwired its covered....

 

I live in Georgia, I'm not shooting in the air! By Law my truck is an extention of my home..... if you are in my truck your **** is dead!!! or you learn to dodge bullets one of the other I really don't care by that point

 

viper 5901.... it was around 600 dollars installed.... this is what justified it:

1900ish dollars in stereo
600ish in tools in the toolbox
and who knows how much else in personal effects that would suck to loose


i had them put pins on my toolbox
sensors on both the front and back of the truck
pins on my tailgate

i put flashing indicator lights in the fog lights
and i put my own siren on it that is twice as loud as the one that came with it

so not only will i know about it via key fob, me and the whole neighbor hood will know because of the siren lol
