Default Hydrogen Generator

A co-worker recently told me he'd built/used a hydrogen generator to successfully improve his truck and street rod mileage. He claimed about a 20% mileage increase. Does anyone here have first hand knowledge of these things? I know most auto makers are experimenting with hydrogen fuel vehicles. This is an augmentation system. There are kits on various sites for only a couple hundred dollars...

One of my former co-workers had a Ford diesel and built his own hydrogen kit from instructions he got off the internet. He put together a spreadsheet showing money spent and MPG before and after the mod. He was saving about $100-150 a month and about 1.5 to almost 2 tanks of fuel a month. He did a lot of driving so i'm sure the results are relative to driving habits but it was interesting to see how well it worked.

This was when gas $4.80-$5 for unleaded and more for diesel. At those prices in any full size truck, being able to save filling up one tank every month would easily see those kind of savings. The kit he used was about $500 or $600 for parts and he bought a high output alternator to help produce the hydrogen.

I saw this on does it work thursday. It doesnot work. I havebeen told you MIGHT could make a SMALL difference in a carburated vehicle with one of these but here is what you are going to really accomplish, a big let down, a big investment of time and money, and a burned up alternator. That big of an electrical load to make an electrolizer will just burn up the alternator. There is no doube you will produce a very but let me clarify VERY small amount of hydrogen gas that you will probably just release into the atmosphere. Now once all that water boils and you add it to the engine beyond the MAF sensor. How much realative humidity do you think you will be adding to the engine's combustion chamber compared to hydrogen. IF you do achieve (and I emphasize IF) any hydrogen gas getting into the combustion chamber here is what will happen, the hydrogen will ignite before the gasoline does. You might hear a pre-ignition ping every once in a while just so you know your home made experiment is burning up your alternator.

Wait. You mean car manufactures haven't thought of this?

Must be a big oil conspiracy.
