Default How do I price a truck needing new engine?

I have to sell my truck, and I am not sure how to price it. The engine had a valve that broke off and destroyed the piston and cylinder. (not a mechanic - so please don't freak on me if I said it wrong)

5.4 L V8 145,000 4x4 XLT Leather with reverse stiching and power sunroof and rear window. 6 disc cd changer. Interior is in very good - not perfect condition. Bed has linex and looks very good. Body is without dents...very few marks from stray grocery carts...etc. Tires are very old and rims are the original crappy style. And six inch crack in front windshield (repaired) (low on right side) oh and passenger window in up locked position as that part to fix it was too much.

I posted on Craigslist for 1500 and immediately got responses of "when and where" which makes me think I went too low. But what is appropriate?

Thank you in advance.

KBB/NADA value of truck minus cost of new engine. If you're not in need of selling it, you could probably find a 5.4L rather easily.

So, I just deduct 4500 from 12000? That's insane...in a weird but hopeful way. No wonder I was getting so many emails....

I don't want to keep the truck and was getting ready to sell it when this happened. I actually had just had it serviced the day before. So, I really don't want to put a new engine in and continue to shell out money for rental car.

That's the mechanic talking. I'm a mom with two boys that have to be transported 300 miles/week to their Dad's. Right now paying 120/week for rental and no cash on hand to do repair work. That's why I would like to sell.

What?? no one said take off 4500 you can get a used one for like 1500 f that lol.

What does it look like? What condition is the interior. If its just a motor get a used one off of ebay or somewhere! I'd never give anything away for 1500 this new. Unless you just ragged it to hell and back

The interior is almost perfect and body too. The last offer made was 3000 before I reposted just now at 4500 OBO. If it's too high, I will adjust. Fingers crossed. A used one for 4500, not where I live!
