Default High Milage question

Well our Fx4 05 just turned 100,000 miles a few months ago... and it is unfortunate that at this time we have the means to modify it. However, we are kind of weary about pouring cash into a truck with 100k mile on it.. The engine runs well but probably needs new plugs. Should we modify this one or wait and just pimp the new one after this one dies?
i was thinking
-CAI
-Dual Exhaust
-Procomp 6in lift
-Procomp rims
-35's bfgs
-Navigation/dvd radio
-Maybe ARB locker?

Thanks all!

If you took good care of it there is no reason to worry any more about this at 100k than there was to worry about it at 50k... or 20k.

I am just starting to add "things" (as the wife calls it) at 84k, I would look at it more as a reason to keep this one than to start over with a new payment etc...

Do a little maintenance and keep it and do what you want with it.
Im assuming youve owned the truck for a while and are pretty used to it so you know how it is. With a new truck its like starting over again and not being used to it. Also your truck is probably paid off or atleast alot closer to being paid off than a new one is.

I plan on keeping my truck for quite a while. I figure its going to have atleast 150k when its paid for and I dont want another payment. 100k doesnt really scare me.

100,000 miles is nothing for newer vehicles. my folks put 300,000 on a 94 explorer. my old 01 explorer has around 130,000, and my mom is still driving it. her 04 f150 has around 150,000 miles, and still runs like brand new. i got my '06 f150 with around 75,000 miles, and i probably wont start with any major mods until around 100,000 miles.

maintenance is key.

Yeah as long as you keep up on maintenance you should be fine. My mom drove a 95 Isuzu Rodeo, she bought it brand new and she did maintenace and I think we replaceed anout 1 starter and 1 alternator. It just recently hit 195,000 and she finally decided she was just ready for a new car. Still ran good needed new brakes but other than that was still running like a champ. tried to talk her into getting an F150 sadly she went with a Hyundai Santa Fe. Dissapointing!!!

I would get the spark plugs changed out and the standard maintenance for 100K, then start with the mods. Programmer, Exhaust, Intake, Lift and Tires, then maybe a locker and winch; in that order. Good Luck!

100K? Not even "broke in" yet....

I might refrain from large doses of NOS, and changing the shift firmness with a programmer, but any other mild mod is alright.
