Default HID situation

When I unlock the doors at night my lights come and they flicker until they get warm. When I crank the truck one or both go out. I have to turn them off and then back on and they work fine. Why do they flicker at first and then go out when I crank? Can this situation be fixed?

I think its 1 of 3 things.

1. If you're not using a wiring harness then that's probably the issue.
2. If you are indeed using a wiring harness then maybe the bulb my be dying
3. or your ballast is dying

Do you have a relay kit and/or digital ballasts? I had that issue long time ago when I bought my first analog set. Threw those away when I got my DDM's, I can leave my auto lights on with fogs and unlock the doors and start the truck etc... without any issue.

I bought a 35 watt kit with halogen low and hid high beams. They use ballasts. The halogens blew so then I added a 5 way relay kit so the lights are on hid for high and low. The lights didn't flicker until I added the relay...That's when the plot thickened. What are DDMs?

DDM is the website vendor I have ddmtuning(dot)com I've never heard of halogen low beam and HID high beams...I have seen where the low beam is the HID and the high beam is a cheesy little fog light type halogen bulb attached to it. That's what my first set had...garbage, I wanted to smash them with a hammer, every other week a bulb or ballast would go out.

That's what I have now. Sounds like I'm going with DDM. Did you order hi/lo or just the regular bulb?

If you go 55W get the 6k, 35W get 5K....closest to factory HID pure white with a hint of blue, anything higher is too blue and gets annoying and old

Did you get the harness, error eliminator and adapter cables? These weren't options for my kit a year ago. If you have some time, what do they do?

If you get the hi/low kit I think it comes with the relay kit, if it doesn't then yes just get the relay kit. Nothing else.
