Can I ask what type of projectors you put in your truck and the brand of HIDs. I am thinking of going with retro solutions ???

Thumbs up

Ok so i took a few: First on is low beams down a darkish street near my work. Seconds is my brights down the same street, although it doesn't do them justice because the city is so bright because of the haze. Third is the wall shot at around 6 feet. Fourth is with the fogs on. Fifth is around 12 feet, its hard to tell with this pic but with my sixth and last pic, I took one level with my headlights to show just how far they are angled down so they don't blind as bad. Hope this helps with the OPs decision...

Thanks for the pics. I've definitely seen worse, at least you have them aimed pretty far down. In your first wall shot you can clearly see the glare above the main "cutoff" on your door, but like I said its not as bad as others I've seen. The light is also focused toward the hotspots and doesn't have a lot of width it seems?

Here's mine...

So. In your truck what type of projector did you put in? I wouldnt be against then but I want ones that you still only need one hid kit and not have to have separate highs and lows like the ones I have seen? Can you tell me yours so i know what to look for.

I did a retro-fit and used the FXR projectors. This is the guide I followed to complete the project:

Thanks. How long did it take you to do this? I am not sure I can manage this endeavor but would love to have it on my truck.

Sorry just wanna add to mSaLL150s post with this. I wish I had the know how to do that...about 6 or 7 months ago i was looking into FX-R Projectors. Ill post a link to this one guys how to. Its the one that got me looking into it. Notice he also has before and after shots with wall shots. Again an install like this goes far beyond my capabilities. I barely did the mirror mod without breaking my mirror!! Anyways I sent him a message on how much he paid to get them installed professionally and this was his reply;

I bought a spare set of headlights to use while my originals were modified. Those cost me $100+$25 in shipping. I already had a plug-n-play HID kit installed so I had the ballasts and wiring harness, that was $120 (I ended up throwing away the bulbs from that afterwards because they are not compatible with projectors). The projector parts from The Retrofit Source (bulb adapters, D2S bulbs, projectors, shrouds) cost me $220. Then getting the actual work done cost me $350+$40 shipping to the company+$40 return shipping. If you do the work yourself, you can save a ton of coin, but I did not feel comfortable doing it for the first time on my own headlights; I would much rather pay a practiced professional to do it right.

All in all, I paid $895 including shipping costs, the spare headlights (which I'm trying to now sell) and the first set of HID bulbs I can no longer. If you don't buy a spare set of headlights, that will cut it to about $770. If you haven't modified your lights at all from stock, then you would need all the ballasts and stuff and wouldn't waste money on the first set of HID bulbs so the total would be $745. And then of course, doing the work yourself would save a ton.

Heres the link to his how to thread: https://www.f150forum.com/f38/custom...ons-too-76242/

Good luck with everything man, I just couldn't justify the $$$, Id rather put it towards a 6" Stage 2 ProComp lift and bigger rubber

It took me about 10 hours of work. I was nervous at first too but just following the guide really helped and once I was done, I looked back and said to myself "well gee, that really wasn't that hard. just time consuming." Feels great knowing you accomplished it, and it gets a lot of looks from people as it lights up over 5 lanes of highway wide, and out in the country you can see EVERYTHING. The high beam is unreal.

I bought a spare set of headlights off ebay for ~$100 shipped to do the retrofit on, so I didn't have any downtime on the truck. That way I was able to spread the project out over a span of 3-4 days, doing a couple of hours per day.

If you don't feel up to the task and don't want to pay to have it done, I would just leave the headlights stock until you can afford it...especially if you plan to lift your truck. Lifted trucks + PnP HIDs just isn't a desirable combo for oncoming traffic.

Yes it will make more sense with it in front if you. Give me a shout if you have any questions, I can walk you through any trouble steps. As long as you are comfortable with a dremel and a little DIY stuff, you'll be fine. You'll have the best headlights around by a long shot.
