Default HID issue question (hi/low) done wrong?

Ok installed a hi/lo kit from ddm couple weeks ago. Problem is I dont have any differentail between hi and low beams. Im aware there wont be a brighter beam on hi but shouldnt it adjust/deflect the beam upwards at some degree? The light is on the same plane in either setting. To be honest I think they are stuck in the hi beam mode. I did the bambi mod but it didnt seam to help. The fogs now stay on with the switch in hi mode (as well as indicator on dash) but in lo beam mode the high beam indicator is on very faint. Anyone make sense of this rant and can offer input? Does anyone elses kit have hi/lo difference?

check your connections and grounds. if thats all good could just be a faulty part but you wouldn't think both sides would be doing that. its most likely an issue with the parts messing with your computer happens often with these type of kits. this advice is not set in stone so i could be wrong on everything just thought i throw in my 2 penies

This sounds similar to the problem I had when I installed my HIDs for my headlamps & fogs. I don't remember the name of the kit I used, but it plugged in directly to the H13 for the headlamps. The way I fixed mine was to "re-wire" the socket coming from the truck.

The socket/plug coming from the truck has 3-wires, 1 for the high, 1 for low, & 1 for the ground/negative (black wire).

I cut both high & low beam wire & connected the one that's supposed to be the high beam wire to the low beam & vice versa. That worked out for me

I didn't ground mine right and I blow the fuse between the battery and the h/l controller.

My fuse looks good. Im wondering if it has anything to do with my plow wiring too. There are so many damn wires and harnesses now its crazy. I will verify the grounds tomorrow then maybe trying reversing the hi/lows. wonder if the plug is possible to put in upside down? guess i will start by verifying that first. Thanks for the input guys

You probably need to swap the wires around in the wiring harness. The plug that plugs into the drivers side factory harness. As mentioned above. I had to do this to my explorer and ranger. DO NOT CUT the wires though. You can take a small pick or tiny screwdriver and disengage the pins and slide them out and replace. I like to spread the pin out a touch after removung it so it locks back in better.

Agreed had to do that on my '91. Jon_To here on the forum walked me through it and sent a video that was really helpful.

You just need to switch around the pins in the connector, they come out really easy, just have some common sense. The keep messing with the order of them in your factory harness until it's proper. Then put them back in the connector from the HIDs and be happy

ok, I see the harness on my truck (oem) has 3 wires in it. They are labeled 1,2,3. This is the plug that plugs into the factory h13 bulb. Which wires am I swapping? Is that the right harness? It's the only one I can see (truck side) and wires dont "look" to be removable. I need to know which plug and which wires to test or swap.

The connector that is part of the HIDs that you plug into the truck harness is what you want to mess with the pins on. Don't mess with the harness connected to the truck!
