Default HID issue

hey guys, just drove home in the dark because my HIDs would not activate. the right one finally came on just before i got home. when i got home i flicked them on and off a few times, the left one never came on, the right one did half the time. how do i determine if its the bulbs that are going or the ballasts? ive had the kit for about 2 years now, they are wired via relay directly to the battery, they are not powered directly off the factory light wiring

also, if it turns out to be the bulbs, what size bulb do i need? its an 07 xlt

well the bulb is an H13 for the headlights. not sure what the problem would be that your having. Try calling the manufacture of the HID's to see if maybe they can help you. could be as simple as a ground not making good contact now, are each one of the lights grounded seperate?

i just had to replace one of my ballasts recently..... you can measure the output voltage of the ballast and see if it is working or not. in my case, it had 0 volts, so it was an easy fix.

hope the same for you. a ballast cost 30.00, and you can buy them seperately, while lamps run about 100 or so (bi-xenon) for the pair.

your ballasts are dying, or the relay in your kit is dying. as it gets older, the relay become harder to click over. try replacing it with the same 30 or 40 amp relay, about $7 from advance auto or autozone.

if not, ballasts are dying, about $40 each, unless you have a lifetime warranty like the ones i sell... shameless plug

good luck!

ps.. my vote is for the relay kit though
