Default Help please asap

I have a 2007 ford f150 4x4 with the 3 valve 5.4 it started ticking and skipping the other day and thought it was just the famous coil pack misfire so I drove it down to my local parts store and put it on the machine and it was a misfire but when I came back outside and Crunk it up I lost all oil pressure and started making a horrific noise need help to find out what this is please

Definitely doesn't sound like a coil issue to me. Sounds like your timing equipment is shot. Start taking covers off.

Yep^^^ How many miles on your truck? Might be ahead to drop in a new engine depending on miles and maintenance history.

Hate to say it but I had the same thing happen to me and it was the a combination of timing components.

Most likely had either a timing chain guide fail or a tentioner fail. Timing probably skipped and you possibly have a cam phaser failure. You will need to tear into the front covers and check the extent of the damage.

The misfire was caused by the skipped timing by the way, hope there are no valves damaged.

Good luck sir!

I have my 2004 in the shop as we speak. It has 94K mile on it. The timing chain guide on the right side of the engine has broken into a whole bunch of small pieces. Some of the pieces have fallen into the oil pan. The screen on the oil pump is partially blocked. The engine has to be removed from the truck to get the oil pan off and clean all the broken pieces of the timing chain guide out of the pan. I am having all the timing components replaced. You can buy them in a kit. Phasers, guides, chains, etc. I am looking at $2500 to repair. As long as the engine is out, I am having new spark plugs, new water pump, new belt put in it also.

You do not have to pull the engine to drop the oil pan. Remove the cross member under the pan, detach the sway bar end links and swing that out of the way, and remove the pass. side mounting bolt for the axle and pry that down a little for clearance...

You are correct. I was wrong. Originally I was told they were going to take the engine out because it was easier to work on. I just got back from the shop. I was there checking on the progress on my truck. They did not have to pull the engine. They did remove the oil pan and found two pieces of the timing chain guide stuck to the screen on the oil pump. So it you cannot find all the pieces of a broken guide when you remove the front of the engine, you may as well pull the oil pan because you have to get them all out of the pan otherwise the oil pump may not oil the engine properly.
