Default HELP with Key

I need to find out how I can get my key code with my vin. I don't have a ford dealer in my town. Closest is 30 mins away.

Today I bent the only key I have for my truck and bent it back using the ignition. Well when doing so it broke off about 1/2" of my key inside my ignition. The key can come out but the smaller broken off piece is stuck inside. But that's not the problem. I have a locksmith buddy that says more than likely he can get it out. My problem is I need the truck for a few more days till the weekend for work. So I need to use it how it is till then. In the meantime if anyone knows how to get the key code with the vin number my locksmith can possibly call and get a new key made by the code. If anyone can help please let me know

Damn man that really sucks. The only thing I can think of is get that piece out and try and super glue it together and see if a local tool store can make you a copy. If they can then what you will have to do is just tape the old key above the ignition this way it will recognize the chip inside the key and allow you to fully turn your new key.
This is temporary but it's worth a shot
Good luck!

By attaching a computer to the OBD2 port he can force the computer to accept a new key code. I bought a used Ranger with only 1 key (takes 2 to get the computer to accept a new one without being forced) and a local locksmith cut and programmed a second for $70

may not help your situation, but here's a related article
http://www.f150online.com/forums/200...placement.html

you will need a working chipped key to perform this mod.
the first step is to make several non-chipped copies of the ignition key.
you might want to disconnect the battery in case of accidentally triggering the airbag. then remove the steering wheel plastic cowling to access the ignition switch.
on my '5 F150 there was one screw retaining the outer plastic ring that encircles the outer end of the ignition switch. remove that & carefully pull that assembly free of the ignition switch leaving the wiring intact. tape the chipped key inside the plastic ring to send the transponder signal. reconnect the battery temporarily to test your other keys for ignition operation.
you may need to readjust the key in the ring to make it work. when you are satisfied that the ignition works fine with any key, disconnect the battery again.
tuck & secure the taped assembly up inside the cowling and reassemble the cowling.
reconnect the battery & now share those extra keys with family or friends to eliminate the need for the added expense of chipped keys & programming.

Some locksmith can read the transponder and write a new key chip............
