Default Help...front Rotor Retaining Nut?

first post....see a lot of good info on here so i hope someone can help me with mine....

doing brake job on '05 F150 lariat and front rotor retaining nuts say "do not reuse"....dealer is out and they are $20 bucks each...ouch!

local parts stores say "dealer only item"

i have done many brakes in the past and always have a nut and washer seperate....i always replace the cotter pin and repack bearings but this is first experience with nut/washer combo.

service dept at dealer says to replace it and parts dept says they have heard of replace and not replace.

i take it this is something that might crack if reused?

any help would be appreciated as i am trying to complete job this weekend.

thanks

I don't know if the part would necessarily break if it is reused. You can always put the old nut back on until the dealer can get the new ones in and you should be fine. Also, try going to/calling a local brake shop, like Midas and see what they say about whether or not you actually need to replace the retaining nut.
