Default Help electrical issue stranded in kentucky

I have an 05 screw 4x4 I pulled into a motel in Franklin Ky tonight all of a sudden lights went dim radio went off and came back on am like it does when disconnect battery then everything (lights gauges radio) all went dead then I stepped on brake and it killed the engine now acts like the battery is dead Any ideas please I am far from home and need to figure this out Thank you

Could be the alternator. Does the battery have any juice?

I dont have a meter with me going to go to auto parts store 2 miles away tomorrow( I hope I can hitch a ride) LOL

Do the interior lights come on at all? Sounds like the battery or alternator. That sucks at least your at a motel.

Sounds like an altenator. Wish you were closer. I'm only about 3 hours out.

no interior lights nothing electrical except a buzzing clicking noise that sounds like it might be coming from on top of fuel tank

Pulled battery did not have half inch drive to loosen tensioner to pull alternator got a ride to parts store to test battery and buy half inch drive battery tested bad 2 years old free replacement back in truck runs gauge shows that charging ok fingers crossed that it was just the battery thanks everyone who posted

Interesting, I have a feeling that it's still the alternator. The truck is probably running off the battery. Which won't last very long if it is the alternator. The battery's only purpose is to start the vehicle. The alternator takes over from there. Which is why I the vehicle died when it was running and drained the battery. Keep us updated!

3 hrs driving and truck tells me check charging system make it to next town with parts store test alternator sure enough BAD pricey little part also but I now have new alt battery and serpentine belt it took the money I was saving for chrome rims or a tuner or true duals but hey 235,000 miles this ole girl hauls for me everyday and this is the first time she had to quit on me so I aint complaining
