Exclamation Help. To chip it or not

My buddy is wanting to sell me a superchips cortex for $250 bucks but I am very worried about my warranty. I bought the extended warranty for 7 year 100,000 miles. So what to do. I think the truck is a little sluggish and I have heard a programmer will wake it up significantly. So I really want to do it but I am leary.

Who has actually had a warranty voided or claim denied due to a programmer and was it your fault, fords, or the programmer. JUst looking for some outside input.

Thanks

Most programers have a back to stock option...just put the stock one back in prior to service.

But what happens if the motor locks up or tranny craps out. Can you still pull the programmer out without them noticing. I thought you had to pull the programmer and then drive like 30 miles to get the setting to go back to normal. Just because you had to clear the codes. This is all just stuff I have heard. So please correct me if I'm wrong.\

Thanks for the reply

it's my understanding that if you pull the chip/tuner right before you bring in it, they can see you had a tuner. it takes time for the computer to forget, how much time or how long, that i have no idea.

I have had tuners for years. And I have always went to the same dealership for my major repairs. I have always brought it back to stock, then disconnected the battery for 30 minutes before taking it to the dealer. No problems yet. But I have also not had any MAJOR problems yet. (Knock on wood-of course)

Had Juice with an attitude and snapped the bolts off the balancer. Took to the dealer and just talked to the service manager. He told me that they are used to working on trucks with tuners and as long as its not obvious that you just blatenly abuse your truck they normally just look the other way. they still get paid from corporate on your factory warranty.
