Next stop... load testing.

I have an 08 Escape, and with 1000 miles on it the battery rolled over and played dead.... FoMoCo replaced it under warranty

Default Battery Drain

Had the same thing happen to my '04 Lariat.....jumped start ok, after being completely dead, brought it to the stealer, told me they checked it and was ok with no other explanation......happened again 6mos later....they told me that I must have left the lights on.....that all happened while under warranty.........yup after warranty they said it was the battery and wanted to pror rate....went to napa got theirs no problems since......also told me batteries last only 3yrs.....got a 2000 Crown Vic w/same battery parked in same garage next to other......good news, that stealer is no longer in business...guess they never made the blue oval

Same thing this weekend....Truck has 32k tested the battery at autozone They said it was bad only showed like 9.4....I guess that means it won't hold the charge???

Jumped it this morning and took it to Perry Ford, still waiting to see what they say. Anyways talked my service guy into pulling my door code for me so hopefully its just the battery and the warranty should cover it.

Waiting to see if they say anything about my edge though....

Had the battery load tested and they said it was good, just needed a little charge. I'm going to drive the truck around some to charge it. I pulled every damn fuse in the box and still got 11.8 volts. Guys, I'm at a loss. Hopefully the battery will stay charged and this is a fluke thing. It's an 08. I owe to much on the truck for this kind of headache!

Default Update!

Okay, switched to checking amps and made some progress. With all the fuses in and nothing running, the battery reads -0.37 amps. Started pulling fuses and got to the "keep cluster alive" 15a fuse. With that out, it gives me a -.017 amp reading. What next boys?

Just because the battery tested fine right now the condtions may not be the same a battery will fail in different weather conditions to cold,to warm ,too much humidity affects a battery dramaticly I would not pick you brain to hard yet I still be leave you have bad battery... Have worked on FORDS along time haven't seen to any issues with f150's.....

i experienced the same thing today... i shut it off last night and went to start it today and it was so dead that the power locks didn't even work... i boosted it and ran it for a while and haven't had a problem since then but tomorrow morning will be the real test for it... i washed it last night before parking it so i think that the water must have gotten in somewhere and shorted it so it died although i didn't spray out my engine bay or anywhere there are fuses or exposed wires, i have no other explanation but either way i'll find out in the morning.

It's been awhile since I last updated this thread. I wanted to let everyone know that I ended up replacing the battery and it fixed things for over a year. Now, I am having the exact same problem. I had the new battery checked today and they said it was fine. The battery date is 11/09. Why does this keep happening? The battery is under warranty, but they won't replace it until it checks bad. Help?

Ran into this same problem last year on my stepson's Ranger.........battery was tested and tested fine, they did a quick charge and sent us on your way....2 weeks later the battery's dead again....they checked the changing system and all was good, they quick charged the battery again and sent us down the road, a month later and we're back again, this time the battery is really low on a charge so the guy says can you leave it here and I'll put the battery on our charger and we'll find out if it's the battery or not, we waited for 1 hour and walked back in and asked if it was ready, the guy walks over and smells a rotten egg smell coming from the battery and says question what that battery is bad, they give us another battery and it's been fine ever since. So it doesn't matter if it checks out fine it can still be bad. Get a new battery and get on with your life.
