Default headlights

I have a 2007 crewcab. I love my truck and it is not too bad on fuel.

How come I cannot turn off the headlights. There is no way to turn them off if the truck is in park...

why is that....

Daytime running lights???

If not equipped with that option, then perhaps a bad headlight switch, or a previous owner somehow rewired the headlight circuit (although that's grasping for a solution).

If it is a Canadian Truck then it is equiped with Day Time Running Lights (DRL) and there is no way to turn them off. Other vehicles if you applied the parking brake the DRLs would shut off. Unfortunatley with our trucks they are on all the time.

I had a local mechanic wire a switch into the circuit to allow me to turn off the system. I was charged a couple of hours labour and a switch when it was all said and done.

I disabled my DRL's. Just had to pull a fuse/relay under the hood. It says which one it is in manual.

Why would you get someone to put a switch in when you could pull the fuse/relay for them yourself????

You should be able to take it to the dealership and have them disable DRL. Through the ford Ids computer
The other setting they can change is the light illumination when you hit the key fob

Open your hood theres a fuse box on the top driver side fender. It's the relay at the back corner near the windshield and body, not the motor. Easy fix, pull it and there gone.

behind the drivers side headlight there is a daytime running light module unplug it thats all there is to it by far the simplest way to disable them. you dont even have to take the light out its behind the rubber flap that covers the gap between the rad and headlight housing. no wiring or fuse pulling required
