Default Headlights

Hey guys how's it going? Just want to bump your brains about headlights. I heard once it is recommended to change your headlights once a year as they fade over time blah blah blah. Is that true? Is it worthwhile doing? I've had my truck for 3.5 years, and I always drive with my headlights on. Is it worth replacing? If so, what would you recommend and why? Obviously, I know HID's are the way to go, but they can be spendy too. Should I just replace the bulbs? Or just wait until they burn out? Thoughts? Thanks.

Bulbs do become less efficient and their emission spectrum changes over time. That being said, I'm only on my second set of bulbs on my '04.

They don't change enough for most people to notice.

Talking about h/lamps,I read a while ago that the factory wiring harness[07 F-150 4x4 XLT] was to light to handle Silverstar etc. bulbs and would melt the harness, any truth to this as I would like some.

I've run Silverstar sealed beams and replacement bulbs without any issues. I currently have them in my head and driving lights. The issues with any wiring harness is with the higher wattage bulbs.

I just say "Drive it till one burns out, then replace them both" - that way when one has gone bad you have a fresh new pair instead of replacing one then having a goofy mismatched, bumeyed look... M2C

I just tried to buy Silverstar Ultra's and they don't seem to make Ultra H13/9008. Is it true they don't make Ultra's and are the regular Silverstar's worth it as they are only 35% better and Ultra's are a 50% improvement ???

Thanks

They do make the Ultras for our truck. They were just released a few months ago. You can get them on eBay.
