Shorties will bolt right up to the exhaust...long tubes will need an entire new exhaust system or at least modified. something to keep in mind.

I did Banks shorties after the fist set of replacement cast manifolds failed after a few thousand miles. They bolted right up and never leaked again. Be sure to use the OEM steel gaskets, not the garbage thick leaded gaskets that come with most aftermarket manifolds or headers.

So I plan on doing at least an axel back exhaust either way.

I will make sure I use the OEM gaskets. So now it’s between shorties or long tubes.

Long tubes if you dont mind the extra work and want the performance gains. I did get a noticeable gain with the shorties, probably not a big HP difference but it held gears better especially while towing.

i don’t mind the work. I already replaced the transmission on the truck. So at this point with the money I have in it I don’t plan on getting rid of it any time soon. Once I get all the kinks worked out I plan on lifting the truck and running 35s so I think maybe the long tubes would help with that. Especially towing. I know the manifold cracked from when I moved I towed about 9800 pounds from Washington State to GA. It pulled like a champ but a little extra power would have been nice in the mountains.

I"m with Kozal. If my manifolds needed replacing I'd just throw in a quality set of shorties.... Minimal gains, easy install, looks nicer than manifolds, and probably similar price as manifolds. Get them coated if you want them shiny.

Longtubes are of course better but it depends on what you want. I have longtubes on my GTO(wouldn't do shorties on that application).

thanks man after the research I’m definitely leaning more towards shorties. Throwing on long tubes is a lot of work. And the more I think about it I don’t really wanna do the work. I’m deployed right now and when I get home I’m not going to want to take the time to do long tubes. Honestly might just drop it off and have someone do it.

the other thing I’ve been reading is that late 07 and 08 manifold mimic shorties and there’s even less of a gain for the cost. Can anyone confirm that?
