05 FX4 here. When I got my truck the entire grill assembly was cracked and smashed up. Looked online but all I can find is the insert itself, but I need the shell as well. Has anyone had any experience replacing the whole thing? Looks like kind of a pain in the a** from what I can see but not sure.

 

6 (maybe 7) small bolts along the top, then the 2 that hold the left and right side black brackets. You can have the grill and its surround off in less then 10 minutes.


The surround can be removed from the grill, but some break a tab or two in the process. Take your time, use plyers to bend the tabs straight to remove.


In looking at eBay, I see lots of grills with surrounds gor sale. I suspect that you are unable to find your body color surround with the grill you are looking for? The surround can be removed from yours, or have the new/used one painted.
