Default Greasing the slip-yoke

I had my 2 piece driveshaft replaced under warranty in 2010. Starting to get the clunk again. Not sure how many miles were on it, but probably around 30k. Now it's got about 118k.

It's a 2005 SC rwd.

Is it usually the rear shaft splines or the front?

I just don't want to mess with the carrier bearing if I don't have to.

could be either. does the clunk feel like its right under you or does if feel like its in the rear?

Hard to tell, it's not like the original clunk, both start and stop. It feels more like when I'm driving and accelerate or coast at speed.

I'm not sure what the original driveshaft looked, but this one is identical to the 09 and up. Maybe they are all the same??

Is it like a sudden hard jerk when it clunks? If it's doing it just coasting down the highway with no load than the problem might be something else

It's not a hard bump, feels more like it's taking up slack. The rear end and driveshaft have no play, so I'm hoping it's the splines not moving in and out as the pinion angle changes on and off throttle. I ordered the grease and have the right size clamp for the dust cover for the rear splines.

The truck also has a low speed (25-30) vibration, not sure if it's related. Made another post on that, but got zero responses 😡. Hopefully this fixes both.

BTW, I don't have a LS rear end, fluid was changed about 500 miles ago, made no difference.

Rear end wont affect it. It's good you changed the fluid though. About the vibration, I would the the u joint too

The good news is the rear slipjoint looks brand new, nice coating of the blue grease and slides easily. The u-joints are free moving without feeling loose.

The front joint, I'm not sure about, it's got ATF dripping when I start sliding it out, so I shoved it back in till I get the grease next week. I'm not sure how much ATF will come out. Seems to move somewhat free, but not like the back one. Looking at it, I don't see how it could slide anyway with the fixed carrier bearing. Hopefully someone can confirm or call my BS.

It's normal for ATF to drop out when you pull out the front spline
