Default govenor

I have a 2008 f150 xlt with the 5.4 and its got a ton of power but it wont go over about 95 and when at 95 i can feel the engine backing off is there a govenor on the truck? If yea were is it, and how do you adjust it?

Yes there is. It's there for a reason, unless you have S rated tires or higher, yours will probably fail.

you can take the speed limiter off with a tuner, but seriously man why go over 95? not trying to be safety police but that speed isn't safe in ANY vehicle, let alone a big truck.

If you are going to drag your truck at the strip, you might want to look into a programmer tuner. Otherwise going fast is last.

The speed limiter in your truck is set by the ECU...and like stated above a tuner like an EDGE can increase and decrease this setting.

Ahh ok! Thanks! Yea i know 95 is fast but im a super modified dirt track race and a drag racer and im used to all the speed so if i ever wanted to go faster than 95 i would want my truck to perfore greatly, thanks again!

Tuner will help. I don't know why Ford has they pcm set the way they do, but 95 is certainly enough for me, but I am not a racer.

Then you should know the dangers involved, and be wise enough to keep it on the track.
