Default is this a good trade?

i posted an add on my local classifieds stating that i was interested in buying tires/wheels and or trading my stock fx4 wheels and tires for something different. got a response of a fella that wants to trade some 325/60/18s on eagle wheels for my stock setup...my stocks are 275/70/18 goodyear wrangler all terrains with about 3k on them...he stated he paid close to 2k a year ago for his wheels/tires. 2 have 50% and 2 have 40% tread he says. im waiting to hear back as to what brand the tires are...must be really soft...heres a pic of them let me know what you think.

Ehh in my opinion I think you could do better than that. You're tires are practically new, and this dude's has less than half tread. I'm not saying that his setup isn't worth what yours is, but if you do the swap you'll half to buy a set of tires sooner cause they have less than half tread.

The only way you'll ever know if its a good trade is if YOU think it is. Everyone on here has different opinions, but its your tires, on your truck. You're opinion is the only one that matters! lol. Keep in mind those tires are bigger than your stock ones. Check the backspacing on those wheels and do a little measuring before you swap (if you're going to), to make sure the tires arent going to rub

yea i have a leveling kit installed but def will do some measuring...only reason i want to know what other people think is i know nothing about wheel/tire setups....always had trucks but never put anything too much bigger on. he sent some other pics of the tires and the dont look worn at all so maybe he is just not best at judging tread depth.

ive never really ran into this.. but my dad has some new tires put on his truck... and when he got home i told him he got ripped off becouse they looked worn out.. but when you actually measure them they were right on the money with what they actually said they were ..(they were brand new).. it was weird.. even after measuring them when you just look at them they look like half tread.. i guess it was just the design.. so i would actually measure them yourself... if you like the wheels and the tires will last you awhile i would probably do it

should have checked email before the forums! he responded and stated that only one tire has 40% tread on outside edge from alignment issue. advised the others are all in good shap with even wear. the are nitto grapplers? any info on these tires would be great! wheels are 18in eagle alloys..

by the pic it looks like a nitto terra grappler.. pretty popular tire and i'v heard lots of positive things about them, but if i do recall that tire does naturally look like it has a little less tread.. but still.. i dont see why u want to trade for these, i mean eagle alloy wheels arent really that much to begin with. are they not like one of the cheaper brands of wheel you can buy? and then to go with half worn terra grapplers?
Do you have any pics of the wheels you are trading for his?

I don't have any personal experience with the terra grapplers but I have also heard good things about them. As far as only one tire being a little more worn than the others...you might get lucky and find a single terra grappler on craigslist or in the for sale section on this forum (and others)..so you could keep the worn tire for a spare, and the chance is pretty good that if you do find one it'll be cheaper than buying a new one. Just a thought!
