Good programmer for 05' F-150 Supercrew??
Recently purchased a 05' f-150 supercrew. Has 4-5in lift on 35in tires. Has a flowmaster. Tip ends between the cab and bed. Has a stock air filter system with a K&n air filter in it. 138,000 miles. So far have only ran 87 gas thru it. Has the "ticking noise" that from my research has to do with VCT, cam phasers etc etc... Probably not a good idea to throw a programmer in it but my gas mileage sucks and also the power & torque sucks. Looking for a good programmer? Any suggestions. Thanks
The most popular two programmers for our trucks are the Edge and the SCT. Both are primarily used for performance and secondarily for gas mileage. It'll take you a while to recoup the money if you're only buying for MPG's.
Have you re-geared the truck since putting 35's on? If not, you may want to consider doing that. Would help with some of your lost power and not put as much stress on your transmission.

Only way I know is take your diff cover off and count the teeth. There's a ratio for it which will tell you if 3:55, 4:10, ect ect
Usually with a lifted truck, gears and tuner typically done to bring back power lost through the lift and bigger tires, depending on how of tires went on.

I am lifted on 37s running a EDGE programmer. I run the level 2 towing tune, the benefit with the tuner is not added hp or gas mileage. The benefit is the shift points being moved to the correct position, speedometer in the correct position, and added gauges.

All good info... I'm running 35 BF Goodrich All terrains with 5in lift. Dont really tow anything... Once in a blue moon maybe ill tow a pair of jet skis. In the streets I usually hit the gas often just to hear the flowmaster. Highway I'd say in the 75-85 MPH. From what I just said what gears fit my driving style best? Also, going up long highways in the mountain areas my truck revs about 1800-2200 going 60MPH. When I wana hit 70MPH and my truck hits 3000+ just to maintain 70. Also thinking of running EDGE programmer. Suggestions of gears ratio???
if you get the gears changed you need to get the programmer too. The programmer will change your trucks computer settings to what your new gear ratio is. It will change the shift points and make the truck drive better. I would get 4.88 on the low end/mostly city driving and 4.10 on the high end. realistically I would choose 4.55 gear ratios.
