Default Ghost locking

I wake up and leave the house in the morning around 4:45. As I'm driving down the road my doors start to lock by themselves. Sometimes once or twice, sometime one after another after another after another. This morning it was like a fully automatic assault rifle. Usually only does it in the morning. Has done it during the regular day once or twice.

Now when I bought my truck used it had a viper alarm installed but never worked, only locked and unlocked the doors. I'm thinking maybe there is a loose wire somewhere and it's grounding or something. If anyone has experience on Installing or dealing with an aftermarket alarm and may know where to start looking please let me know, if anyone else could shine some light that maybe there is a ghost in my truck point me in the right direction, thanks haha

It's most likely the ghost of that armadillo you accidentally squashed a few years back, but I'd still find the Viper unit and see if it tapped (spliced) into any wires when it was installed. If I wasn't sure it was a ghost, I'd say it sounds like an intermittent short, caused by vibration and a broken/compromised wire.

I had the same issue. Found out it was a loose wire grounding on the passenger side wire loom that runs under the door sills.

You have an aftermarket alarm installed? Since I didn't install the alarm and never have installed one I'm not sure where to even start. I figured the alarm tapped into the wire or wires for the locking and unlocking but don't know where.

I haven't but I bought it used so the previous might have. I was just grabbing wires in the loom one day and when I pulled on it, it would lock the doors so I chased down the wire. I can't remember what color it was tho.

I have the factory alarm, so wouldn't know where to start. If I were Viper I'd have a nice big advertising logo on the unit, so maybe a trip with a flashlight under the dash will help track down the placement. Per Buster, start on the passenger side.
