Getting to top bolt on 5.4 starter
I've done abut 6 of these. Here's he best way I've found:
Remove the inner fender well. Put a stud ( exhaust manifold stud works great) in that top hole with the starter out of the vehicle, then install the starter and use a 13 mm socket swivel and extension to guide the nut onto the top stud . (Put wheel bearing grease in the socket to hold the nut in the socket). Remove the bracket that holds the brake lines to give yourself a little more room for the extension and lessen the angle. Looking in through the wheel well you can see that stud sticking through the starter.Then guide the nut swivel socket extension combo to get the nut started and then tighten the nut on the stud.
