I must have missed the V6 part in the first post, although I see it now.

Unless you have made drastic changes to your tire size, and need to compensate with gear changes, I'd have to agree that there are beter options for making power than gearing. If after you've done the basic HP mods you might want to look into gears, a different torque converter, etc, but start with the basics.

Keep your ears open for a 3.55 posi unit. If you have basic hand tools you could swap one out in the driveway with some friends in a few hours.

The book doesn't even make the 4.10s an option for the 4.2L. There is an axel code inside the door and I saw somebody post all the codes in a forum on here, I will try to find it.

the stx came with a v8 4.6 with 3.55 or 3.73s

if you're going ahead with your plan of a 6" lift and 33's you will probably have to regear in the neighborhood of a 4.1 to 4.56,due to a small engine and low power and torque.

I believe you are the first person EVER, that I have seen, that is going to lift a V6. Man your truck is going to get **** poor MPG and be an absolute dog.

I'm not trying to be mean but you should think about the lift a little more before you do it.

your going to have little to no power to turn those wheels bro, like tide said....its not the best of ideas...unless you plan on a sc or turbo or big motor work...in that case just get a 4x4
