Default Gear shift problems

Have an 04 f-150 lariat, 5.4l. Having problems pushing in the button on shifter while in park. I push the brake pedal but I have to wiggle the shifter around and it takes a while before it finally decides to go into a gear. And help is appreciated. Thanks in advance

Check the adjustment on the brake interlock cable then wrap a towel around the parts you dont want to mess up and hit the butten with wd40 or similer and work it a few times if its just full of crap this will probably fix it if not you could have worn or bent parts in the shifter.Bubbabud
