Default Gauge Cluster

Quick question on gauge clusters for our trucks. I have a 2004 Lariat Screw with a Floor Shift. I like my gauge cluster pretty well, but I like the FX4's a little better. Can you switch one to another, as long as the shifters are the same? Any input appreciated.

It should work with any cluster.

Will I lose my mileage or trip/mpg info?

Not sure if the mileage is stored in the cluster like it is in the mustangs..... It most likely is..... So you may have to take it to a ford stealership to calibrate it.

mileage is stored in the cluster, there is a big thread on here about switching clusters out.

Also, you have auto A/C since you have a Lariat, so you'd need an FX4 cluster that also came from a truck with auto A/C.
And as mentioned above, mileage is stored in the cluster itself. Dealers CAN flash the correct mileage onto a new cluster, but not many seem to be willing to do that. Some only do if you buy a brand new cluster through them.

Thanks for all the great info! I found the tread on switching them out. Will do an update if I decide to pursue this.

I'm new to this forum so forgive me if this is unrelated, but I figured I'd try asking for help from the community of f150 owners.

So my mechanic was trying to figure out why there were 5 sets of 5 beeps in my 2004 Ford F-150 Lariat and he pulled the connector off of the instrument cluster. Since reconnecting it, the fuel, tachometer, and speedometer are a little off. They are all proportional and rise, but they're all off by a little bit.

When the speedometer should read 40mph... It reads 30 mph

When the tachometer should read just above 1,000rpm on idle... It reads just above 0rpm

When the fuel should read just above a 1/4 tank, it reads just above Empty.

The oil, volt, and temperature meter all work properly.

Please help!
