Didn't read all posts, but here is/was my experience.

My '99 Ranger, '99 Explorer and '02 F150 all got slightly better mpgs and throttle feel/response when using BP. We'e talking 10-20 miles per tank. When I used others such as Shell, Conoco/Phillips 66, etc, they had slightly less mpgs and throttle response/feel. Not sure why or what caused this, but just my hand calculated experience.

Now they removed all BP stations from the Denver Metro area in about 2007, so don't have much experience with my '06 F150. I now use Conoco/Phillips 66 fuels with Shell being the alternative.

Wow.... You're right. I don't fill, truck, or dump an fuel into an tanks. I can just tell you that MY CLIENTS tell me that as stocks rise and fall so does thier choice in fuel. Chevron is just the branding on the wall. Most cases they own the land, and the tanks. The owner orders the fuel based on price - yes, at a reputable station, your not getting towl head sand ****. Then Chevron picks up 15cents per gallon sold.
Ever heard of Equvia or Motiva? They're the MiddleEastern companies that own Shell and Texaco respectively. Think they're concerned if American consumers get exactly what they think. Where the ones that are looking to save 3cents a gallon => less than $1 per fill.

I don't know how much this matters to the general public, but often times branded trucks going to branded stations get priority. So if you are not a BP driver and you show up at a BP terminal, you might not be allowed to fill your truck if there are BP drivers there. Certain trucking companies are allowed to pull X number of gallons, and that is it. So the driver could be sent elsewhere.

Nope they don't. The Valeros in our area are all franchised out under a company called AMPCO (this guy is freakin rich) and we load gas from the cheapest place based on the stock market. We could have 30+ trucks rolling to load at certain terminals and he will call our dispatch and cancel everything until after 6pm which is when the new stock prices go into affect. Pisses all of our drivers off.

Regarding priority - Yep another thing that pisses us off. We don't see it any many terminals except Conoco in Linden NJ which caters to Exxon. They get 4 dedicated racks and 40 other companys could be in there stack in 2-3+ hours waiting to get loaded and no other company is allowed to load under those racks. Just about everyone hates Exxon drivers since they are the last breed of hourly/union drivers + they just act like their crap don't stink.

On a side note, Motiva can **** off. I hate those terminals.

What ever anyone debates about it all comes down to a few things.

[1] What additives that company claims to put in. If they don't advertise any special additives then it's the same gas the next guy has. As far as I know shell, sunoco and exxon are the only 3 in my experience advertise special additives. The rest use the same additives and ethanol is always between 8% - 9.5% per load

[2] The condition of the station is a big plus. Shady places may be selling you reg at prem cost and water levels can introduce issues. The max we deny a drop is 3 inches of water. The most I have ever seen were around 1-1 1/2 and that was at Valeros.

Ok enough of this ****...I just did this for the past 14.5 hours and now I'm typing. Blah, bedtime.
