Default Gas consumption (tested)

Hi,

First of all, please excuse my english , it's not my primary language.

I'm planning to buy a new truck , I'm actually running a 1998 gmc sonoma 2.2 L

But I checked on the web for the gas consumption of a f150 ( 2004-2006) and if it's correct, that's not too far from my actual truck.

I know a f150 will need more gas for the same distance, execpt ( I think) on the highway.

If someone here had tested how it did with a fuel tank ( miles per gallon or liter per 100 km) highway and cities

And please say if it's 5.4 or 4.6 L , 4x4 or 2x4, and single cab, king cab, or quad cab.

thank you !

Welcome to the site!

Maybe not absolutely accurate - but should provide a general relationship between the different vehicles as far as better and worse.

I aheva 2005 f150 with the 5.4 liter. Had it 3 yearsnow with 28k miles on it. Always have gotten 16-17 miles per gallon on the highway, with or without the boat behind, and about 12-13 miles per gallon in town stop and go. This is driving without a lead foot. If you like to boot it, it does go down fast. I consider it pretty good. My previous Nissan Frontier got that. Good luck.

I have a 2008 F150 2WD SuperCrew with the 5.4L, front is leveled 2.5" and I have slightly bigger tires (32"), and I do about 70% highway/30% city driving and I get a rock solid 17mpg.

f150mashin, how do you know how big the fuel tank is? Is it the same for all 04-08s with the 5.4L? I've got the 5.4L FFV and I'd be curious as to how big my tank actually is.

2005 Lariat 5.4 Supercab 2WD bone stock except K&N drop in filter. I get usually about 320-340 per tank mixed city highway driving. I average 14.1-14.3 mostly.

I also get worse fuel economy when I run premium grade fuel. I see 12.3-12.5 mixed driving.

I've got on 06 4X4 Supercrew with 33" tires and 3.73 gears and yesterday I got roughly 18 MPG cruising 55-60 MPH on backroads. In the city I get roughly 13ish MPG.

I'm not to sure how accurate my Gryphon is but that's the numbers it's telling me. I do know that my tanks have lasted MUCH longer since I've been able to see my instant and average MPG on the Gryphon display.

When my 2006 2WD SCREW XLT was bone stock I would get 15-17 mpg's in mixed hwy/city driving and 19-20 all hwy. After adding a 6" lift and 35's to the truck I saw about 3 miles per gallon less. In Hawaii though my driving is 100% city stop-n-go type driving and I am seeing about 11-12 mpg's. The good thing is while I'been stationed in Hawaii now for 16 months I have only filled up the truck 23 times. I live less than 5 miles from my work and do veyr little driving on the weekends. Also just bought a motorcycle so that cuts down my driving the truck even more.
