Default Gap between plastic molding

So I Just noticed I have a 1/2" gap between the plastic molding across my windshield that's made around the wipers. It seems as if the molding around the (wipers themselves) doesn't nudge a bit but how could there be a 1/2" gap in the middle between the 2 ?

If I understand you correctly, the 2 pieces are supposed to be held together. There should be about 3 little protruding tabs on the driver side piece, that should clip/catch onto 3 small "holes" on the other piece. If one or two of your cowl-end pieces (small pieces at the bottom corners of your windshield) are missing, this could cause the two main big plastic pieces to move, and get dislodged and come apart.

I checked when I saw the gap and all the Tabs are still there but I could t get the plastic pieces to slide bak towards each other. Probably an easy fix, just such a big gap.
